Allasso Recycling Credits Rapidmix Mobile Continuous Mixing Plant as “Ideal Solution” for Bentonite Enriched Soils.
Allasso Recycling Ltd, a leading UK recycling and construction company, has spoken of how the Rapidmix 400CW mobile continuous mixing plant is an ideal solution for bentonite enriched soil applications. Allasso credits the Rapidmix’s ease of mobility, high capacity and fast throughput.
Allasso provides local authorities, service providers, utility and construction companies with bespoke end-to-end recycling solutions. Specialist services include, site remediation, soil stabilisation, HBM’s, road recycling, RCC, cold recycled asphalts and recycling of asphalt waste containing coal tar.
Bentonite Enriched Soils
‘Bentonite Enriched Soils’ or BES, is a geotechnical application where bentonite and water are mixed with the host soil to form an impervious layer, suitable for landfill lining. The layer is a minimum of 500mm thick, with the material laid in approximately 150mm lifts.
Allasso is presently completing a BES project in Scotland, covering 14,000m2. Due to construction phasing, the mixing portion of the project will be delivered over a 6-8 week period. As a result of the quantity of host material required, two sources have been employed, each requiring a bespoke mix design. The primary host material contains 4.5% bentonite, with the other material containing 7.5%.
Rapidmix ideal solution for BES applications
Discussing the Rapidmix’s capabilities, Leo Plant, Director – Allasso Recycling Ltd, commented, “Rapidmix is the ideal mixing solution due to the self-contained nature of the plant, quick setup time, its high productivity and advanced mix monitoring systems. In addition, having the ability to run the pugmill clean-out belt during mixing, assists mixing performance when mixing sticky cohesive materials such as BES.”
Ease of mobilisation and small footprint – a key factor
Mr Plant continued, “The ease of mobilisation and relatively small footprint of the plant is a key factor for us. The high capacity and versatility of Rapidmix enables us to produce or treat a variety of materials in large volumes, all with precision control. This together with great support from the Rapid team makes Rapidmix our solution of choice.”
The Rapidmix 400CW plant produces high quality controlled mixtures for utilisation in a range of civil engineering applications – from airport runways and contaminated land treatment to dam construction and soil stabilisation. The mobile nature of the plant, combined with the technically advanced design, is most advantageous in meeting the supply and demand requirements on critical projects. The Rapidmix 400CW delivers a cost-effective solution on projects where high specification compliance coupled with a high-volume fast throughput are essential.
Full weighing of all materials – aggregates, cement and water
Fully mobile and self-contained, the Rapidmix 400CW from Rapid International offers a complete plant powered by its own power source, with on-board compressor and generator. Fitted with a self-erecting system, using hydraulics, the plant converts from travel mode to fully operational within a few hours. Available with outputs of up to 600 tonnes per hour, the Rapidmix provides feed rates that are fully adjustable for the aggregate, cement and water systems.
The unit incorporates full weighing options for all materials – aggregates, cement and water – offering record keeping that is automated, precise and detailed.
